Beast of the Nile

The waters of the Nile lay calm and undisturbed in the early morning's light. Irradescent dragonflies sprint through the air above this stillness, sparring as they meet beside the foggy banks. Hollow reeds dance in the wind and the sun's rays filter through them to play on the turquoise river. The whole of the desert seems subdued with this winding river as it's heart, but these gentle waters don't exist without their sentinal. From the depths of the Nile a heart beats much stronger than the waters themselves. A blur of gold and green slides through the liquid, remaining close to the river's bottom with a fevered loyalty...a loyalty with the persistance and power to kill. The swift creature continues its path through the depths, until a sight catches upon its violet eyes - a fish in the net of vision. A foolish fisherman has strayed too close to the water's edge. A protective urge swells up in the creature's being, quickly boiling over in a rage. The blur of gold and green shoots to the river's surface like a biological arrow and breaks through the water to touch the air above. A vicious growl escapes its throat, struggling to escape from between clenched fangs. This is the last noise the man ever hears.........the Beast of the Nile has spoken...
